AMD has released a low power  processor targetting Ultra-small Form Factors & All-in-Ones PC market. The new CPU is an AM2 part based on a Brisbane core, manufactured under the 65 nanometer process technology.

The AMD chip is expected to perform a little faster than the Intel Atom 330 dual core, and could prove a great competitor for the home theater PC segment. As many of you may already know, the Atom 330 dual-core comes with an impressive TDP of only 8W, but its chipset consumes quite a lot, and together they are rated at about 25+ W. Given the fact that the Brisbane 3250e with chipset has a similar thermal envelope, AMD might have great chances to gain some market share.

No problem handling Vista Aero effect.

We can see from above benchmark that new processor’s performance is lower than sempron processor. But in term of power consumption, it saves a lots.

Yahoo has just added another 2 more email domains for user to register.  The 2 new email domain is ymail and rocketmail. The released of extra domains is because yahoo domain has been registered over 266 million active users. Thus, new user is hardly to get their preferable user name. Anyway, accounts created with the new domain names will use the same Yahoo! Mail interfaces and get unlimited storage at no charge. Localized country versions of the domain will also be available. The ID’s will also work for signing in to other Yahoo sites and services, such as Flickr, and Yahoo! Messenger.

CPU Performances:

Currently, only 2 types of Core 2 Quad processor available for desktop processor.

Q6600 processor available for the price of nearly RM1000. Wow, RM1k for a processor… It will be too expensive for me…

According to  Intel, the launch of the quad-core processor is a huge milestone for Intel and quite a big success for the company. The Q6600 is another leap in the right direction for Intel, as it will give many more users the option of quad-core technology. Today’s video editing software seems to benefit the most from this new technology, followed by image editing software. However, those that like to multi-task like crazy will also enjoy the power of a quad-core processor. The Q6600 and other multi-core processors should also prove to be very beneficial when running Microsoft’s latest operating system, Windows Vista.

Anyway, the beta version still not so stable, especially on chinese display.  Anyway, i believe they will enhance it later.

PS: Finally i finished my semester exam… can relax… yippie !!!

As we can see, 4th generation Centrino uses new chipset ~ 965GM/PM + ICH8M, new wireless module ~ Pro wireless 4965 which can support 802.11n, and a new IGP ~ GMAx3100. Both L2 cache and FSB are slightly increased to 4M/6M and 800Mhz.

The X3100 supports some very high-end features like hardware transfer and lighting, vertex and pixel Shader Model 3.0, and 32-bit floating-point operations.

There is no doubt that Intel is step ahead of the laptop market compare to AMD. Hopefully AMD can come out some new platform…

Other than that, there also had a mid end broadband service up to 2Mbps/512kbps cost RM188 monthly.

For my info, this 4M packages only available for 12,000 users because there are only 12k DSLAM port available. (* At least now they learn how to control )

This kind of speed as compared to those offered by Singapore’s ISPs ( reached 10M~12M ), is still very low, but at least breaks our local record–> Malaysia Boleh…. Duh…

For those Streamyx users ( and myself ), mostly of us will faces a lots Streamyx problem, such as no/loss connection, very slow, unstable connectivity and many many more.

From my personal point of view, i wouldn’t recommend any user to upgrade neither 4M nor 2M packages. Because i do not think that Streamyx can offer this kind of speed with quality due to my experiences. U can read some comments on LiewCF’s blog.

I’ve just submitted form last month to upgrade my current 512kbps package to 1M packages. But after 1 month waiting, i only noticed that my phone line had been upgraded.

Wow, my phone line capable download rate up to nearly 8M, double faster than the 4M package offered by them.

U all must be thinking that how lucky am i, can get such a “ultrasonic” speed.

But i tell u all the truth, my current speed is very slow, not even more than 100kbps. Just a little bit better than dial-up… T_T

Next weekend will be Ipoh 1st PC fair. They still hosting it in the same place –> stadium Indera Mulia. As usual, all the sellers are keeping pen drive/thumb drive in their stock…. This means that pendrive/thumb drive will be the main selling point again.

Last time my gf brought a 1GB pen drive with RM79. Nowadays with this price, easily can get a 2GB capacity….. How fast the price drop…

Hopefully this time can come out some new stall or what…. Because not much thing exposed in the PC fair.
