Google Public DNS

Search Engine Giant- Google has launched their free, global Domain Name System (DNS) resolution service. The DNS protocol is an important part of the web’s infrastructure, serving as the Internet’s phone book: every time you visit a website, your computer performs a DNS lookup. Google Chrome OS

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Well, even Chrome OS is superfast, there is few disadvantages also:

  • support only flash memory, no hard drive
  • rely on internet & networking
  • not support 3rd party software

Maxis Wired Broadband

I’ve just tested the Maxis Wired Broadband. The subscripted package is 1Mbps.

The package include a Aztech 605E ADSL modem.

During peak hour ( 7pm ), i’ve performed below test.

The result shown that it can reach more than 80% of the maximum speed, which is quite good. Perhaps it is due to in whole Perak state, only this residential area is available for Maxis Wired Broadband service.

I’ve heard that during non peak hour, the speed might reach more than 1Mbps. Hopefully Maxis wired broadband will be stable than TM Net Streamyx
