I’ve just install the latest version of Ubuntu – 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope. Well, compare to previous version, installation is much faster, start up & shut down also faster.
Well, for linux OS, everythings are installed, what we need to do is to customize our own, what program we prefer to use.
For web browser, Firefox is included, but not the flash plugin due to not open source. So, we need to manually install the plugin.

1st, we need to go to Adobe website to download the flash plugin.

*Select “.deb for Ubuntu 8.04+ ”

Due to the “good design” of Window based OS, we often need to reformat and reinstall the OS. After reinstall OS, we need to install the related drivers for each hardware that hooked together, such as mainboard/motherboard, graphic card, printer and other peripherals. Normally cd containing driver and manual are included when we purchase the hardware, but sometimes we might lost it or not included for bundled pc and etc. Thus, we need to find from the internet in order to download the driver. So, the 1st driver we need to install after reformat is the motherboard driver. (*U need to bring up the pc in order to conduct internet search & download for others hardware). Below is the few ways that we can identify the model and manufacturer for particular motherboard in order to download the related drivers.
1. Press “Pause” key during boot up. Up to date motherboard often include manufacturer or chipset logo. For below boot screen , we know that it is using AMD 690G chipset, thus we can download the drivers from AMD website.

2. We can also use software to check the motherboard. Download CPU-Z and run it. It is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system. Such as processor, motherboard and ram.

For branded retail motherboard such as Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Biostar and etc, their manufacturer name can be detected, but OEM board might not available.
3. Lastly, we need to open up the casing and look at the motherboard. We can find the model name or manufacturer name printed on the board. Once we found the model name, we can search on internet.

Above model is a Jetway motherboard.

FreeOTFE is a free, open source, “on-the-fly” transparent disk encryption program for PCs and PDAs
Using this software, you can create one or more “virtual disks” on your PC/PDA. These disks operate exactly like a normal disk, with the exception that anything written to one of them is transparently, and securely, encrypted before being stored on your computer’s hard drive.

Features:
- Highly portable – Not only does FreeOTFE offer “portable mode”, eliminating the need for it to be installed before use, it also offers FreeOTFE Explorer – a system which allows FreeOTFE volumes to be accessed not only without installing any software, but also on PCs where no administrator rights are available. This makes it ideal for use (for example) with USB flash drives, and when visiting Internet Cafés (AKA Cybercafés), where PCs are available for use, but only as a “standard” user.
- Source code freely available
- Easy to use; full wizard included for creating new volumes
- Both PC and PDA versions are available; data encrypted on your PC can be read/written on your PDA, and vice versa
- No need to install it; making it ideal for use on USB memory drives, etc
- Available in English, German, Italian and French, with support for other language translations
- Optional support for smartcards and security tokens
- It’s powerful: Supporting numerous hash (including SHA-512, RIPEMD-160, Tiger) and encryption algorithms (including AES, Twofish and Serpent) in several modes (CBC, LRW and XTS) – providing a much greater level of flexibility than a number of other (including commercial!) OTFE systems
- Encrypted volumes may either be file, partition, or even disk based
