TeraCopy is a compact program designed to copy and move files at the maximum possible speed, providing the user a lot of features:

Setup Aztech DSL600EU modem

One of our friend ask about guide of setting up Aztech DSL600EU modem. This model is a combo router which comes with Ethernet port and USB port. For ethernet, just plug network cable only, if connect through USB, need to install the USB driver in order for PC to detect. Other than that, Aztech DSL600EU support both bridge mode and router mode. In bridge mode, u need to create a dialer containing your streamyx user name and password. Every time u want to connect to internet, u need to manually dial it. If in router mode, streamyx user name and password is stored inside the modem, once you switch it ON, it will automatic establish internet connection for you.

Due to bridge mode is a bit fussy, is more convenient to setup as router mode.

The modem configuration is web based, therefore u need to open up IE/firefox browser and under URL type “192.168.1.1” and press Enter to login to router. Below screen will appear.

For default, Both the username and password are “admin“.

After login screen , u will be direct to quick start screen.

Troubleshoot or Diagnose RAM/Memory Faulty

In my previous post on add/remove laptop memory, we already know how to install memory. Now we move to troubleshoot ram/memory issue. We all know that RAM/Memory is one of the important components in PC system. If RAM problem, system will crashed or blue screen especially for Window-based PC.

To troubleshoot whether system crashed is caused by ram or not is not very hard.

First we see what is the ram faulty symptoms.

1. Beeps sound during POST or booting. This if often happen on faulty ram.
* Diffrent BIOS beeps code is vary. Example, AMI Bios ( 2/3/4 short beeps )

2. Random crash or blue screens during the installation/running of Windows OS.

3. System keep restart or fail to boot.

4. Crashes during memory intensive operations such as 3D games, benchmarks, compiling, photoshop and etc.

*Above symptoms only for reference only.

Secondly, we need to confirm that the ram is inserted properly on DIMMs and is in correct orders especially involving more than 1 ram. Some motherboard require different placing for different capacity modules.

Universal Extractor

Universal Extractor is a program do to exactly what it says: extract files from any type of archive, whether it’s a simple zip file, an installation program, or even a Windows Installer (.msi) package. This is still a work in progress (see details below), but so far it’s proven quite useful and I feel others can also benefit from it.

This application is not intended to be a general purpose archiving program. It will never replace WinRAR, 7-Zip, etc. What it will do is allow you to extract files from virtually any type of archive, regardless of source, compression method, etc.

Universal Extractor, like most of Windows programs, is written in AutoIt, a powerful open source scripting language. Universal Extractor itself, however, is just a front-end that uses many other programs to do the dirty work.

Cannot Read Media & System Lag

One of my client PC encountered system lag issue once it couldn’t read a dvd movie. This happen when u run scratched or otherwise unreadable CD or DVD. Unreadable here only means that it cannot be read by your PC CD or DVD ROM only , doesn’t mean that it cannot be read on DVD Player.

Symptoms: Optical drive ( DVD/DVDRW ) keep reading disc and system become lag/slow.

This issue is caused by Windows IDE/ATAPI Port driver (Atapi.sys). When it receives a cumulative total of six time-out or cyclical redundancy check (CRC) errors, the driver reduces the communications speed (the transfer mode) from the highest Direct Memory Access (DMA) mode to lower DMA modes in steps. If the driver continues to receive time-out or CRC errors, the driver eventually reduces the transfer mode to the slowest mode (PIO mode).

To check your transfer mode, u can refer to below:

1. Right click my computer, click manage, it will bring u to Computer Management.

2. Click Device Manager, expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers node on right panel.

3. Double-click the controller for which you want to restore the typical DMA transfer mode.

4. Under Advanced Settings, u can see the transfer mode.

If normal, current transfer mode is not in PIO mode.

My Own Toshiba Portege G900 PDA Phone

Still remember on my previous post where i introduced the Toshiba PDA Phone?

Because i performanced well last year, i able to grab the “2007 Service Excellence Award” (Branch Category) where the prize is the PDA Phone. Yeah ! Now i dont need to save money and purchase it.

Below is the everything inside the box.

Found that some problem when using my Motorola H350 bluetooth headset where it ring very slow, sometimes i press answer button on my H350 but no response, ppl hard to hear, and i heard echo when i talk using phone only… Anyway, so far the phone is working fine, no hang. It even can detect whether the area in 3G/GSM/EDGE coverage…

The soft reset button is located behind where u need to take out the back cover. Therefore is not so friendly. But we can install some program to light-off/reset/off the device on screen.
