Wireless Printing Using Linksys Access Point

Recently i’ve setup a Multi Functional Printer ( MFP ) at customer place where customer using wireless networking through a Linksys WAP54G access point connected to ADSL modem in order for internet access.

I had been order to create wireless bridging to their wireless network using an AT-WA7400 enterprise class dual radio WLAN access point that can operate within both 2.4GHz ( 802.11b/g mode ) and 5GHz ( 802.11a mode ) frequency bands.. ( * MFP is network ready )

The concept from HQ is to wired access point to MFP, 1 radio wireless bridge with Linksys access point, the 2nd radio become AP. What the heck? How can it be done?

For my understanding, 802.11a is not compatible with 802.11b/g… When i wireless bridge the 802.11b/g radio with linksys, no wireless network available due to laptop and desktop wireless adapter is in 802.11b/g mode… For 802.11a radio, i cant wireless bridge it, both linksys and my AT-WA7400 ( 802.11b/g ) available on the wireless network. Once connected to linksys, able to access internet but cant print. On the other hand, connected to my AT-WA7400, able to wireless printing but cant access internet… God sake… I spent 4 hours plus at customer place and this is what i got…Customer requirement is able to print and access internet at the same time…

No choice, i brought back customer linksys WAP54G access point and try configure it at home. Finally, i found out that linksys is not compatible with other brand. Linksys can only be linked back to Linksys only for client mode, repeater mode or wireless bridge mode…

That’s the problem… Then i went to linksys forum and discuss with some expert…The best way i can do is to purchase another Linksys WAP54G access point, and set it as AP client. Then, i got another WAP54G, set it as AP client, filled in customer original WAP54G MAC address, and used site survey to locate customer WAP54G, filled in WEP code and is done. The wireless network is still the same WAP54G from customer access point. Now, users are able to access internet and wireless printing at the same time.

Now only i know that for wireless networking, is better stick to the same brand if u want to extend your wireless network in future.

Fujitsu U1010 UMPC Laptop

Yesterday i went across Redcom computer, found out this Fujitsu UPMC laptop, which is very small size like my previous post Asus Eee laptop. Then i search some information about this gadgets.

Unlike others UMPC, Fujitsu U1010 is tablet-convertable.

Track pad is located on the upper right corner.

Handy QWERTY keypad.

Stylus is located at a convenient position.

Fujitsu u1010 UMPC comes with Intel processor A110 ultra mobile platform, 1GB DDR2 400mhz, 40GB hardisk, 5.6″ Superfine WSVGA, Wireless ABG, built in microphone and camera, and lastly loaded with Window Vista Premium. Loaded with great specs, but this thing only weight around 0.61kg, which is more lighter than Asus Eee Laptop. But 1 thing, the price is heavy than Asus Eee… haha. Because this thing need around RM3999. Wow, with this price, we can easily get a good 14.1″ laptop…

For me, i love its tablet design and light weight… I did carried a 14.1″ laptop and went for shopping before. I can tell u, carrying a 2.4kg laptop, your shoulder will starting to get pain after some time. But with Fujitsu u1010 UMPC, this is not a problem at all…

But the price of RM3999 is a bit of costly, i will consider it if there is an 50% discount… ( dreaming… )

CJ7

I’ve watched CJ7 with my wife during valentine’s day. CJ7 (traditional Chinese: 長江七號) is a 2008 Hong Kong science fiction/comedy film written, produced and directed by Stephen Chow, who also stars in the film.

CJ7 is a fantasy tale featuring state of the art visual effects, CJ7 is a comedy about a poor laborer father played by STEPHEN CHOW and his young son. When a fascinating and strange new pet enters their lives, they learn a poignant lesson about the true nature of family and the things money can’t buy.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Personally, i love the creature, very cute. The story line also quite touching when stephen chow die. But the ending is a bit too simple.

Asus Eee Laptop

Finally i able to see the Asus EEC laptop available in Ipoh since it launched out last year.

The model i saw is Eee PC 4G with the price tag of RM1099. But i’m not sure whether is normal 4G or 4G surf. We can see from the specs, this thing is extremely light, only 0.98kg, which is much lighter than apple macbook air ( but we cant compare the features ). It comes with 512MB ram and 4G SSD storage. The pc is pre-installed linux OS, but compatible with window xp.

At 1st sight, i love the outlook, pearl white color, very small, good mobility. But i heard that this pc is running Intel Celeron which is a low class processor.
