What is backup ?

Backup is a way of making copy of your file data/system to prevent data loss/corrupt. To backup is very simple… By using DriveImageXML, few clicks and your backup is done. Other than DriveImageXML, there are still a lots of such kind of softwares such as Norton Ghost, Nero BackItUp and etc.

But i just stick to DriveImageXML, because this software is free and easy to use.

Once installed DriveImageXML, open the program and u will reach below screen.

1. Backup is used to create image of your partition

2. Restore is used to restore back the image that u created

3. Drive to drive is used to clone drive

4. Select drive that u want to backup and press next

Backup wizard will shown up, just click next to continue.

Then u choose where to store the image file.

1. State the directory that u want to store the backup image file. By default it will be in C drive, but remember to store it to other drive.

2. Rename the backup image file

3. By default it will split larger files

4. Used to reduce file size

Once finished press enter.

Once it completed the your are done.

To restore it, click restore, choose the drive that u want to restore then click next. Follow the instruction, locate your image file, and it will automatic run the restore process.

Normally, i will suggest user to backup your OS once u first install your window. Because that time your OS is healthy, free from virus, file problem and etc. Once after some times using your OS, you found it got problem, then u can use the restore mode to restore back your OS to early state. This is much more faster compare to a clean format and re-installation of your OS. But before you restore, kindly backup your data to other drive.
