Streamyx Troubleshooting Guide
1. Make sure u have the detail of your Streamyx Account.
Who is the registered person, username and etc… Because they will ask for authentification.
2. Know how you connect to internet
Check whether u are connect automatically or manually.
Automatically means after switch on your PC and modem, it will automatically establish your line and u can straight away open browser and surf net.
For manual, u have a shortcut icon regarding your streamyx connection. Each time u want to connect to internet, u have to double click the shortcut icon, put in your username and password, click connect, once establish then only u can open browser and surf net.
3 . Troubleshooting your connection
a.) Streamyx line
Make sure the Streamyx line is available on your modem. There is a “DSL” LED on your modem indicate your line, it must be “on” stable without blinking then only consider line is available. After the line is available, for manually connection, then only u can login & connect. For automatic connection, normally there is another “PPP” LED on your modem, it will become “ON” means the connection is established and u can start online.

If the line is blinking, try bypass your splitter, make a standalone connection from wall socket to your modem. This is to make sure the splitter is ok and not faulty.
b.) Phone line
To check the line, u can just plug to phone line to your phone, pick up the phone and u will listen some tone “do………… ” This mean the line is available and the phone line is ok. If no tone, try change another phone and test again.
c.) Network connection
Once make sure phone line connection is ok, we now move to network connection. For network, they will be 3 types. There are using network , USB , or wireless.
For network cable, go to network connection–>right click and choose status. It will show whether your network is connected to your modem or not. If not connected, click the support tab on your LAN status to check whether the network setting is correct. Normally modem have DHCP feature which will automatically assign ip address to your PC. If couldn’t get ip address, try restart both your pc and modem.
U can also go to run–>type “cmd”–> dos shown up–> type “ipconfig/all” to check your ip setting. If connection is ok, you can ping your modem gateway.
For USB, try unplug and plug back your usb cable and make sure driver is installed to your pc. If cannot detect, try unplug other USB device and try again.. USB is very sensitive and not so reliable, therefore dont ever buy USB modem…
For wireless, make sure your wireless is enable on your desktop or laptop pc. Driver is installed properly and u will be detecting wireless network.
d.) modem problem
Check your modem status, such as Power LED and etc. If your modem is ok, then you should be able to login to your modem default gateway.
4. Account problem
Finally if u meet this kind of situation where above line, modem and networking connection are all tested Ok, but your cannot login to your account, error 678 occur for manual connection or “PPP” not available for automatic connection”. This might be your account session hang on system which require to call them to reset your port. Well, before call them up, u can try off your modem, unplug the power adapter and phone line, wait for 15~30 mins, then reconnect again. Sometimes it can resolve the problem. If still cannot, then you have no choice but to call the hotline.

Nowaday the hot line is getting useless… They not allowed to reset port on the spot.
The hot line only used to lodge a report so that after 1 or 2 working days then only technician will reset the port…
For new user, kindly change your Streamyx default password to avoid account being used and resulting session hang…

How do u guys connect streamyx to pc with Vista?
I bought a new pc with vista recently. and i connect it to my router. since my router has 4 ports, so, i connect one port to my old pc, and another port to my new pc with vista. My streamyx line is stable. The problem now is, i CAN online with my old pc, BUT I CANNOT online with new pc with Vista!! Is it something wrong with the configuration of my new pc? For your info, my line is automatic establish.

I afraid that your router might not be compatible to run in Window Vista.
Try check your router see whether need to update firmware in order to run in Vista.

I believe it was something related to that “tunnel adapter” setting.
If you check in ipconfig /all, you will see a lot of tunnel adapter is disconnected.
And I search several site, it was something related to “virtual” connection. So it might cause some issue.
Now I still can get this issue solve, and it has been 3 weeks down the road.

I have recently installed Vista on my machine and as usual streamyx is not working.
The ADSL light is stable but when i click the adsl connection icon (usb modem) the page cannot be found.
The worse thing is that when i called TM NET, they have no clue how to configure streamyx for Vista and have no instruction on Vista.
Has anyone found a way to solve this issue with Vista.

Without the cd u also can access streamyx.
What u need to do is to create a dialer. Insert your streamyx id and password and that’s all.

i think the best way to use streamyx with windows vista is to configure your modem as autodialer. this means everytime u want to use streamyx, u dont have to dial, it will automatically connect.tell me which modem you’re using and i will assist u on how to configure auto dialer using we based…:)

October 18, 2007 | 1:21 PMHello, the ACT light on my ZTE modem is stuck (always on). LAN light is off and DSL is on. I turned the modem off and restarted but no change. I get error 678 everytime. All troubleshooting attempts did not help. Streamyx tried to reset it but no change. Could it be a faulty modem? Thanks

Once turn on the modem, the LAN light suppose to ON.
This might be cable problem, or either your modem erthernet port not working or your PC’s erthernet port.

I also tried 2 different PC’s but same issue. Usually when I power up the modem it goes throgh a few seconds of initialization and led lights start to blink. Now it seems the ACT light is stuck as it never changes when I power off and on. Thx

If connection no problem, that’s it might be your TCP/IP problem.
For ZTE modem, during startup, the ACT LED suppose to be stable, when u start open website browsing or downloading, then only the ACT LED start blinking.
For your case, u need to manual use dialer to login to streamyx right ?
Dialer contains your streamyx username and password.
During connecting, it appear error 678 ?
Because for error 678, it generally means that your TCP/IP stack is corrupted and needs to be restored. There are a few things to try:
# First and foremost, restart your computer, and wait until all applications and services are finished loading before trying your connection again.
# If you have Windows XP you can use the “netsh” command to reset your tcp/ip interfaces. Click “Start” then select “Run”. In the box that appears, type “cmd” and click the “OK” button. When the command window appears, type “netsh interface ip reset log.txt” and hit the enter button. You can now type “exit” in the command window, and hit the enter button. Restart your computer and try again.
# If the above solutions do not solve your problem, reinstall your adapter drivers, or tcp/ip drivers.

U need to check the network configuration. If network configuration and modem also no problem, probably your OS problem.
Sometimes network setting corrupted also will resulting limited or no connectivity. U can recover it by reinstall or restore your OS.

October 27, 2007 | 10:31 PMYour laptop only has 1 erthernet port which is realtex. U can know it because there is only 1 RJ45 port.
U need to make sure that your LAN network is obtain an ip automatically and set streamyx dns which is 202.188.0.133; 202.188.1.5 under TCP/IP.
U can also refer to your modem manual, if your modem is connected with your LAN, then u should be able to ping the default gateway 192.168.1.1 or open browser, under address tab type ” 192.168.1.1″ then u can login to modem web config.

Your modem is support PPPoE mode. Where u can store your streamyx username and password in the modem. Once u on the modem, it will automatic connect to streamyx and start online. This way u can skip the dialer part.

Once u on your modem, it will automatic get the line and connect to streamyx.
If still cannot, then u have to call streamyx hotline to assist u.

Yups. My brother use the same method as yours. He use the D-Link Wireless Router with Adsl Modem. He just need to set up on the router and the router will dial automatically.
I use Jaring Wireless Broadband here.:-)

recently my streamyx (rm66 package) connection become very slow, and sometime disconnect too (for a while and reconnect back in a few minutes). before this when i ping smtp.jaring.my -t with command prompt, the return time is 24ms (normal speed) but last week when i ping the same address i get 48ms, and today 64ms. it become slow n slow. Please kindly advise! thanks a lot.

Well, streamyx speed is always changing, sometimes fast and sometimes slow… From your modem, try to see what kind of ip u get? If u dont know how to check, once your surf my website, the ip will be available beside amazon.
Different ip u get give difference speed. such as 6x.xxx, 2xx,xxx. 6x is the most common we usually get. But 64ms and 24ms is not big difference…
Some more the jaring.my is local, u should also compare it will oversea.
Other than that, try check your line condition through your modem. U can refer to below post:

If so high, that’s mean your phone line might need to change or your area is located too far from the coverage. If u keep going having connection problem, then u should write to TM Net and inform them your problem so that they can check whether is your side problem or their problem. Remember to print screen your line status in your mail and attach to them.

January 14, 2008 | 12:48 AMi just bought a aztech dsl 605ew wireless router modem 2/2 .. im using RM66 streamyx package. when i try to configure the router, i tried the quick starter dialer but still cannot connect. it comes out error “make sure dsl light is on and stable. make sure password and username is correct or check with ISP” but if i use back my old modem means no problem that show my account no problem.
can anyone guide me how to configure manually at “Advanced>WAN>New Connection” and other necessary configuration??

Different modem require different network settings…
U can refer the user manual for your aztech 605ew.

1. Make sure network setting/ TCP/IP is set to default, which is auto assign ip.
U can refer back manual on this setting.
2. Login to your Aztech modem web manager ( type”192.168.1.1″ on your
browser url, the default username & password is “admin” )
3. From the basic menu, click quick start.
4. Enter your streamyx username & password.
Username = xxx@streamyx
5. When u connection attempt is successful, basic home page with the.
information of your line status will appear.
* This kind of modem different with your old modem, it can save your
streamyx account information. Once the dsl line is stable, it will automatic
login your account, and u can start using it. No need to use dialer…

What i encountered before, some modem require u to manually setup ip address and gateway.

1st, set your modem to PPPoE mode where it u need to insert you streamyx username & password. Everytimes u switch on, it will auto connect for u.

2nd, connect the network cable from your modem to the Aztech router WAN port. Your pc network cable connect to one of the LAN port of the Aztech router.
Enter Aztech router settings. ( http://192.168.1.254 )
Follow the setup wizard, on the WAN interface choose “PPPoE”, then continue setup wireless security u prefer.

i call helpline… before anyone answered… i got streamyx connected…
so… i hang up… instantly lost connection…
so with a little experiment… i found out, evertime my phone line in use/engage, i got streamyx. Once i hang up, connection lost.
what do you think???

did u try took out the splitter and direct plug the phone line to your modem?
Other than that, is it the main line u r using for streamyx ?
Because from main line, we use splitter to separate out the voice line and data line where the voice line connect to phone while the data line connect to modem. Then only we can use phone and streamyx at the same time.

Did TM send technician to setup your phone line?
To test your phone line, c whether there is dial tone when u plug it to single line phone…
If line ok, probably they not yet setup internet connection for you.

Actually the fixed line existed for more than a decade before i apply for streamyx and it is on my father name. I have tested the line and seem nothing wrong with it. Furthermore i have tested the modem at my office and its working fine. I have called the TM and they said everything on their side is ok.

If u able to login means that your account is activated.
* Confirm that the phone no. u used to apply streamyx is the same as your current phone no…( I know this is a stupid question , but just to confirm.. hehe )
If account is active, u can proceed to below stage.
Since u tested your modem and is in working connection, u can try below steps.
* Make a direct connection from the wall socket straight to the modem, bypassing the splitter.
* Try using another RJ11 (telephone cable)
* Lastly, call them up and shoot them email… haha

June 9, 2008 | 12:34 PMYeah u have to call them. They will reset the port. I also faced the same problem. I called them up and the next day i can be connected already. They will say they will do the report in 2 working days and so forth but actually, once you make report they will do the resetting immediately.
Only later the technician will call you up to check whether everything is ok or not. if ok, no need to ask him to come la.

Refer back your aztech manual on how to setup, make sure
streamyx id = xxx@streamyx with correct password

Line problem
Make sure the phone line u subscribe is correct and is working with dial tone where u can call out, directly connect your phone line from wall socket to your aztech wireless modem
Port problem
Port problem where u need to ask them to reset port, or your side phone line problem.

In that case, i think probably your modem is giving problem such as wrong modulation and settings or your phone line problem. Coz normally when plugged phone line to modem, dsl LED should blinking if getting signal, once established then became solid state.

LED Indicators :
- 1 x “Power” LED (Green and Red LED)
- 4 x Ethernet Link Status (Green) LED
- 1 x “Wireless” LAN Link/Activity Status (Green) LED
- 1 x “DSL” Status (Green) LED
- 1 x “Internet” Status (Green and Red) LED
For the internet status, i suppose that green light means OK while red light means problem. U can check your device manual to double confirm.
If really internet problem, u can go to your device web manager to check the internet connection status.

After doing try and error with my pc and router, i found that the problem caused by a firewall. try to disable/ turn off router’s firewall and also windows firewall. restart ur pc and connect again. just try it.

Currently im using Aztech DSL600EU combo also, with Vista ultimate, but i’ve setup my modem as PPPoE connection where it will connect once i switch it on. Thus, i do not have any issue on it.

If using old modem is working, means that your internet line is OK. That’s mean configuration problem with the new Aztech modem.
Did u check your IP setting? such as gateway. If IP setting is correct, u should able to login to your Aztech Web manager.
Try follow the setup guide on the manual to setup the modem.

I just bought a laptop with window vista….and a D Link router w built in ethernet modem…
I tried to do setting for streamyx but connection failed…..my LAN and DSL light is on…The Streamyx CD not working…
Can i know wats the prob….
how do u set the TCP/IP number…

Make Sure
streamyx id = xxx@streamyx with correct password
VPI = 0
VCI = 35

U can ignore the streamyx cd.
To set TCP/IP, go to:
Network and sharing center –> Local Area Connection –> View Status–>properties –> TCP/IP v4 –> properties

Yest nite i tried to configure my D Link router….but when i type http://192.168.1.1 at the web browser a window prompts tat im not connected to internet and the page not available offline…
wat is the prob anyway?

What model is your DLink router? My model is DI-524UP where the gateway is “192.168.0.1″. Pls confirm it. If the gateway no problem, then u need to check your vista TCP/IP setting, make sure is automatic obtain ip. Or u can manually configure the IP settings.

U can refer to your router manual on how to setup wireless. But make sure your dlink is wireless router. Different brand of devices the setup configuration is vary. So, the easier way is to refer back the manual.

November 27, 2008 | 9:16 AMI am using Aztech DSL605EW modem. The light at the internet there suddenly become RED and cannot connect to the internet.
I check with TM Streamyx which my line is active, I restart the modem or direct plug the cable to main line still remain the same problem.

In your case, either your modem problem or line problem. To determine line problem, u can login to your wireless router config, check the line condition. Or, u can straight away contact streamyx support at 130889515.

Yesterday, 1:09 PMI recently jz reset my router to default setting becoz i wanna do some changes to the router setting. Prblem happened when i configured my router again. I can connect to the router thru wireless, but i cant connect to the modem - thus i cant connect to the internet. My router status there states that there in no PPPoE connection. I double checked my Username n Password and tried again, but still cannnot. Is there anything i can do to check the modem hardware to ensure it is allright??? thx/

Yesterday, 5:23 PMDear Kwang, what kind of brand & model of your modem & wireless router? After reset your modem, u should direct connect your PC to your modem ( using network cable)and configure PPPOE settings. Once everything is done, restart your modem and test again. If PPPOE is working normally, u can direct to access internet. Then only u connect your modem to your wireless router.
