1. Choose a type of laptop which suite your need and budget. Whether a mainstream, gaming or etc.
2.  If demo m/c available, try to lift up the laptop for 3 mins whether the weight suite you or not.

3. Notebook hardwares.

For those who plan to get a laptop with 512MB ram, do check that the ram module is 1X512MB, not 2X256MB so that next time if you want to upgrade your ram u will have extra slot. Because normally laptop only come with 2 so-dimms slot.
for ram.

Some laptop equipped with DASP ( Disk Anti Shock Protection )hardisk . This technology  provides further impact absorption for the hard disk in the event of a knock or drop.

Be sure to check that the laptop equipped with common port and connectors.

Some of the laptop come with built in bluetooth also, this suite those who like to sync their data between PC and hand phone.

4.  Battery Type
Lithium-ion (Li-ion) Batteries

Lithium-ion batteries are the newest technology batteries and offer several advantages over NiMH and NiCd batteries. Lithium-ion batteries are preferred for their lighter weight and higher performance. Lithium-ion batteries are typically 20-35% lighter and will provide 10-20% better performance than a NiMH battery of equivalent mAh rating. Lithium-ion batteries are also unique in that they are not susceptible to the “memory effect”.

Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) Batteries
NiMH batteries typically provide at least 30% more talk time than NiCd batteries. While still susceptible to the “memory effect,” NiMH batteries are much less prone to this condition than the older technology NiCd batteries. Proper conditioning of a NiMH battery over it’s lifetime will greatly reduce the potential negative impacts of “memory effect.” This can be done by ensuring the battery is fully discharged before recharging at least once in every 3-5 charge cycles.

Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) Batteries
NiCd batteries are the oldest technology batteries. While they offer good performance, NiCd batteries are highly susceptible to the “memory effect.” Due to the overall superior performance of Lithium-ion and NiMH batteries and the additional negative environmental impact of NiCd battery disposal, CELLPOWER chooses to specialize in Lithium-ion and NiMN batteries and not carry NiCd batteries in our product line. 5. Warranty

Normally warranty divided to 2 types, which is Local warranty & International warranty.

Local warranty means that you can send your laptop to the service center in your own country when you brought the laptop.

While International warranty entitle users to send their laptop to the service center worldwide.

Some manufacturer provide extended warranty for user also. For the extended warranty, do check the coverage of warranty because not all parts are covered by extended warranty especially life spanned part like battery.

Ok, this is the end of my laptop buying guide, hopefully this guide will give newbie some general guide line when buying laptop. Do not act like those people who just know to ask the sales person question like below:

” Is this Intel laptop ?”

” Got centrino or not ?”
