How to setup Discuz! 5.0 BBS
Discuz! is one of the top BBS script in the world. Normally is used on chinese medium forums maybe because it is created by chinese. haha…
Ok, we skip all the history about BBS. Lets move to installation of Discuz! 5.0. Before we start, you have to make sure you have following system requirements to run Discuz! 5.0.
Hosting requirements:
Platform: Linux/FreeBSD/Unix or Windows 2000/2003
Language & database: httpd server like Apache、Zeus、IIS & etc.
php 4.1.0 or above
Zend Optimizer 2.5.7 or above
MySQL 3.23 or above
Steps:
1. Download Discuz! 5.0 installation file –> Click here to download…
2. Unzip the installation file
3. Upload all the files contains inside upload folder to your server using FTP tools.
4. Change below files or folders attributes to 777
./templates
./templates/default
./templates/default/*.*
./attachments
./customavatar
./forumdata
./forumdata/cache
./forumdata/templates
*Skip this if you are using Windows platform
5. Using notepad to open “config.inc.php” file on your root m/c, edit it according to below settings.
After edit, remember to upload it to your server to replace the file.
* You have to setup database
6. Open browser & run install.php . Url=”http://your_domain/discus_directory/install.php”
* according to the url where you uploaded your file
7. Accept the agreement and you will reach below page.
Click Save config to proceed the installation.
* Make sure the config.php file attribute is 777, if not failed will be shown
Double confirm your database name and click save config.
8. Then you will reach the page to check your environment.
* Make sure all the writeable file & folders is writeable, If not go back to step 4 on how to change the file attribute.
On the bottom of the page you can setup a admin account on the forum.
After that click the start installation button & it will proceed to install your discuz!5.0.
9. When you see below page thats mean your discuz installation is successful.
10. Before your go to your board, remember to delete the install.php file on your domain using FTP client to avoid conflict or re-installation occur.
