World Wide Web == World Wide Wait

World Wide Wait is the title used on The Star front page in conjunction with the damage of sub-marine cable called Asia Pacific Cable Network 2 (APCN 2).

APCN 2 is a 19,000km-long fibre-optic cable network linking Japan, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore, the United States, Europe and Australia.

Transmit speed of this cable can up to 2.56 Terrabits per second.

The network has been up since October 2002 and is jointly operated by 26 Asian telecommunications carriers, including TM Bhd.

TM Net International Transit & Peering Links down …

All the Malaysian users will encountered difficulties in entering yahoo.com, google.com, msn.com and so on of websites because the earthquake happen in Taiwan early morning caused the APCN2 (Asia Pacific Cable Network 2) submarine cable fault between Shantou, China and Tanshui, Taiwan and between Lantau, Hong Kong and Chongming, China

This has caused outages at several TM Net international transit and peering links, mainly to the said countries. As a result, Internet users in Malaysia and other parts of Asia may be experiencing some delay when assessing content and websites hosted outside of Malaysia, especially in U.S., Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea and Europe. TM Net has taken immediate action to divert traffic through other back-up links to reduce the traffic congestion.

More details

So, we cannot do anything except waiting for them to restore it as soon as possible.

Luckily google.com.my can access…hehe
